HTC One Max could launch on 15 October

It looks like 15 October is going to be a very busy day if new rumours are to be believed.

The latest story doing the rounds points to a launch of the HTC One Max on that date, which comes via Android Central, based on information from the Chinese social network Weibo. That same source also points out that the phone has passed through China's certification body TENAA. Those testa have produced the front and back images of the phone you see here, which highlight the phablet's large screen and this season's must-have accessory, the fingerprint sensor, rear-mounted in this case.

That 15 October has been rumoured in the past, so we're pretty much expecting it to launch on or around that date. If it does land on that date, it is likely to have a battle on its hands for column space. Apple is believed to be launching its upgraded iPads on that date, a new full-sized iPad and an updated iPad mini 2. With that in mind, we wouldn't be surprised if HTC shifts the date just a little.

When it does appear, the phablet should have a 5.9-inch display, a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, a 3,200mAh battery, 2GB RAM, a choice of either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage and a camera that's likely to be some variation of the UltraPixel camera from the original One smartphone.

If the launch is mid-October, we would expect invites to go out soon. We'll keep you posted if and when we hear anything more.
