Not just some all-new models unveiled by Amazon, the company has also refreshed the current Amazon Kindle Fire HD.Again, this is a US refresh, but one we hope will be replicated here. In the US, the updated Kindle Fire HD is selling from $148, which works out at around £86 as a direct conversion. Now that is cheap. Fingers crossed that's the price we see.For your money, you get an Amazon tablet with 7-inch screen, offering 1,280 x 800 resolution at 216ppi. It also has a dual-core 1.5Ghz processor, along with Amazon's latest Fire OS 3.0 (aka Mojito). That processor, by the way, makes it 60% faster than the previous generation of Kindle Fire tablets.Other features include dual-band Wi-Fi, dual speakers with Dolby Digital Plus and a battery life of around 10 hours. No cameras here, with an overall weight of 345 grams, which means it's lighter on your pocket in another way too.
The tablet starts shipping on 2 October. Hopefully we'll have UK details before then.
