BlackBerry Z30 could launch this week

It might be shopping around for a buyer right now, but new hardware is still forthcoming from BlackBerry, with the BlackBerry Z30 said to be the next flagship smartphone.

It might be coming sooner than you think too. According to Pocket Lint and 'people familiar with the matter', the phone could make its debut this week, with BlackBerry holding an event in France, Malaysia and India on 18 September. The Malaysia event is said to be a certainty for the new phone, so you would presume the other events are too.

When it does launch, the Z30 is expected to replace the current Z10, offering a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 768, 1.7GHz dual-core processor with 2GB RAM, BBOS, and a 2,880mAh battery. Also believed to be present is 16GB internal storage, microSD card support, Qi wireless charging and a 8-megapixel camera.

It is also said to be shipping with the option of a leather backed case that has a 'smart cover' features built-in.

When it will actually get to the shelves isn't clear - BlackBerry does have a habit of taking its time between launch and sales. But if the launch is this week, it should be offered before the year is out.
