Nokia Lumia 1020 hits UK on 25 September

Remember the Nokia Lumia 1020? Of course you do. This is the Lumia with the huge camera. Yes, the one with the 41-megapixel camera.

It seems like an age since it launched, but it was only July. Since then, we've seen new high-end hardware from the likes of Apple, Samsung and Sony, but the 4.5-inch Lumia remains a talking point. Purely because of that camera, along with its supporting LED and xenon flash, plus image stabilisation and Pro Camera settings. It's a top notch camera before you get anywhere near the phone.

It has just about made the launch date promised for this quarter, being offered for sale from 25 September. You can get in on a contract deal via 3, O2, Vodafone, EE, Phones 4U or at Carphone Warehouse or buy it SIM-free for £549.

However, if you want the larger version - and bear in mind how much space all those snaps will take up if you go made with the camera - the Windows 8 smartphone is available as a 64GB model at O2 for £37 per month over two years, the phone thrown in for free. As for colours, you can choose between black, white and lemon yellow.

More details about the phone here, which is certainly worth a look if photography is your thing (and you are looking to upgrade your smartphone). O2 pre-orders are now open.
