We thought the Desire brand had perhaps served its time, but HTC is really pushing the marque in the latter part of 2013. We saw the HTC Desire 500 not long back, with the HTC Desire 601 launching this very day. To join that growing stable of mid-rangers comes another new piece of hardware, the HTC Desire 300.This is HTC offering the smartphone experience without it costing a fortune. or at least, that's what it looks like. Obviously that means a few features being trimmed to fit the budget, but it still leaves (on paper, at least), a reasonable bit of kit, albeit one that doesn't quite match up with the Desire 500 we flagged up earlier.Formerly known in leaks as the HTC Zara Mini, this miniature HTC handset has been confirmed as having a 4.3-inch 800 x 480 screen, a 1GHz processor with 512MB RAM, 4GB of storage, a microSD card slot (which can boost things to 64GB), a 5-megapixel camera, 3.5G connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 1650mAh battery. HTC's BlinkFeed is thrown in though, which might be a selling point at a modest price point.Which is pretty much what are expecting. Let's be honest, this is no flagship, probably offering a specification that's a good 18 months to two years old (BlinkFeed excepted). But at the right price (or on a cheapie contract), it should have a market when it lands in a month or so.
