HTC Desire 601 gets an official launch

It has appeared online as the Zara in various leaks, but the official name of this particular smartphone is the HTC Desire 601.

It's a mid-range phone, slotting in somewhere under the HTC One Mini, which isn't necessarily a bad place to be. That particular phone got a strong review off us some weeks back.

This one definitely doesn't match that, but it borrows a few things off it - and will almost certainly be available for less of an outlay. The Desire 601 has a 4.5-inch qHD screen (so a little bigger than the One Mini), but with just a 960 x 540 resolution. It also has a dual-core 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB RAM a 5-megapixel camera with 28mm lens (no UltraPixel here), LTE support, microSD slot, VGA front camera and dual stereo speakers, also on the front, all of which is wrapped up on a moulded polycarbonate body.

It's due to land at the end of September, possibly as a cheaper option for potential 4G customers in the UK.
