Nokia Lumia 625 lands on 28 August

We had a general date of the third quarter when the Nokia Lumia 625 made its official debut. But now we have an actual date of launch, that being the 28 August.

It's a good time to launch too, a little earlier than we expected, but perhaps timed to drop just ahead of the 4G network launches from O2 and Vodafone. As this is a budget 4G LTE smartphone, it is well placed to take advantage of both, along with the existing EE network.

You can take your pick of O2, Vodafone or EE if you hope into a Carphone Warehouse or Phones 4U store on the day of launch, but if you want to go SIM-free, there are options there too. As for pricing, contracts start at £21 per month for the Windows Phone 8 smartphone, with the phone itself selling for £179.

From those prices, you've probably ascertained that this isn't the most powerful of Lumias, offering a 4.7-inch 800 x 480 resolution screen, along with a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 512MB RAM, a 2,000mAh battery and 8GB of storage. But it should be an affordable way of getting your foot in the 4G door - just as long as you don't go mad with your data use.
