O2 has today unveiled pricing details for its recently announced 4G network, with packages starting from £26 per month and the promise generous data bundles and access to exclusive content for customers.
The UK network service provider will offer SIM-only deals from £26 and Pay Monthly contracts that include a 4G device from £32. The deals, available from August 29, all include unlimited minutes and texts as well as access to 9000 Wi-Fi hotspots as part of the network’s free O2 Wi-Fi.
Customers opting for the £26 4G SIM-only package will get a 1GB data allowance although additional data bolt-ons can be purchased at £6 for 500MB and £10 for 1GB. The SIM-only 4G tariffs extend up to £36 for 5GB of data.
O2 is also offering customers the chance to get a new 4G device through its O2 Refresh scheme that allows subscribers to change handsets whenever they chose by paying a set airtime and handset fee per month. The new deals see airtime plans starting at £22 per month and device fees ranging from £10 up to £25 per month depending on which 4G-enabled handset is opted for from those ranged by O2.
The exclusive content included within the packages comes via O2’s Priority Moments scheme and will see customers enjoying access to Priority Sports videos including training tips and behind the scenes content from world class sports teams, a selection of multiplayer games courtesy of Gameloft and free access to O2 4G Tracks for 12 months.
Brian Rose, MD Commercial, Universal Music, said: “O2 Tracks has already proved itself as a compelling music service for music fans who want ease of access to the biggest hits on the move. O2’s forthcoming 4G music video service is even more distinctive and we are excited to be working with O2 as they expand their music offering.”
David Whitby, Country Manager UK & Ireland at Gameloft, said: "We're thrilled to be working with O2 to bring multiplayer gaming on-the-go to O2's 4G customers. We'll know they'll love being able to race supercars through the streets of London with their friends - even while stuck in traffic on a bus."
Existing O2 customers with a 4G ready device can transfer to a 4G tariff without needing to sign a new agreement. O2’s unique ‘4G Phone Promise’ and ‘Speed to 4G’ initiatives will see O2 pay 25% towards customers’ remaining contracts, allowing them to sign up to 4G more easily. By trading in an old device with O2 Recycle, customers can get up to £300 to help pay off the remainder of their existing contract, or put it towards a 4G-ready device.
