Nokia rumoured to be working on quad-core phablet

The idea of a Nokia tablet has always been a 'possible', but a phablet is perhaps a more likely move right now for the Finnish giant. It could happen sooner than you think.

That's according to the My Nokia blog, which claims to have been talking to someone 'familiar with Nokia's plans' (but no longer on the team), who in turn claims that Nokia plans on releasing its first ever WIndows Phone phablet later this year.

It will be a new era for the Lumia, as it will be the first-ever quad-core Lumia, complete with a 1080p screen, which is made possible by the GDR3 update to the Windows Phone software. The Current WP8 software isn't compatible with the higher level of hardware. As for screen size, that's not clear, but is definitely bigger than five inches, as you would expect.

Nothing else is really known about it (if indeed, that source is a reliable one), expect for one thing. The same site claims that 'it's likely' that we will see the launch of this device at a Nokia event this September, alongside a couple other device launches.

If that's the case, the Nokia phablet is just weeks off. It should also usher in a plethora of leaks, if previous Nokia launches are anything to go  by. We'll keep our ears to the ground.
