4 September launch rumoured for Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Back in July we heard that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was likely to launch in early September, but that date now looks more likely with the Korean media getting firmly behind it.

The 4 September date is two days before the big IFA tech event in Berlin, pointing to Samsung's separate Unpacked event, an attempt to take the headlines away from any other launches at the event later in the week, you would think.

The device is still something of an unknown quantity, but rumours generally point to a 5.7-inch, 1080p AMOLED screen, a Snapdragon 800 processor, 13-megapixel camera and Android 4.3 out of the box. However, there has been talks of different versions for different territories, especially in terms of screen. So what we actually see in the UK is anyone's guess.

It also sounds like the Note 3 will have a support act too. That should be the Samsung Gear, the company's move into the smartwatch sector, with Smasung said to be keen to get a foothold (or 'wristhold') into this new market ahead of Apple and its iWatch. Details are scarce, but previous rumours have centred around a black and white screen showing a large time display, with access to music and mail apps, no doubt working in conjunction with your Android smartphone.

If the rumours on the launch are correct, we will know all about it this time next month.
