Motorola Moto X press shot leaks

It has been built up for months now, so much so that the Motorola Moto X might struggle to cope with expectations.

That's because this is the first Motorola launch since the company came under the wing of Google. As such, it is a significant moment for both companies. What you see above, courtesy of another @evleaks leak, is the actual phone we have been talking about all this time. It is what we will see at the New York launch event on 1 August. So far, so good, it would seem.

Except this isn't going to be a phone to blow us away. The source of the leak claims it will be 'an everyman phone'. Or if you like, a phone geared to selling volume rather than making its mark at the top of the market. Mid-range and affordable.

That is backed up by the results of a benchmark test spotted for the phone. Those results point to an Android 4.2.2 phone with 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chip and 2GB RAM, along with a 720p screen, 16GB of built-in storage, NFC, a 10.5-megapixel rear camera and a 2.1-megapixel front camera. Ok, that might only be part of the story, but that specification certainly hasn't got us checking when our current contracts are up.

Hopefully the full story will be more complimentary, with some Google-backed whistles and bells selling it to us. Just over a week to wait.
