It was on pre-order at some SIM-free retailers and it is a phone that seems to have been around forever. We did a hands-on with the Huawei Ascend Mate as long ago as January. But only now is it making its way to the high street phone shops.Huawei's quad-core phablet is a Vodafone exclusive, available for 'free' if you pay from £25 per month. For that, you get 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 250MB of data, plus 1GB of UK Wi-Fi. Other deals that offers more calls and data are also available. If you prefer to go down the pay-as-you-go route, you can grab one for £300 too. When we got hands-on, we were impressed with the 6.1-inch HD screen, battery life of up to 48 hours, the build quality and the number of windows you can have running at the same time. In short, it's definitely worth looking at if you are one of the growing number falling for a device with a big screen. Especially as the price undercuts the big-name phablet competition quite significantly.
