HTC One Max phablet coming in September

It was spotted in an internal network document a couple of weeks back, but there was no indication back then of just when the HTC One Max would launch. However, sources are now flagging up an unveiling in September.

Those sources are said to be out of the company's homeland of Taiwan. Speaking to the Mobile Geeks site, they claim that the HTC One Max will be here in the third quarter of 2013, which is already looking like a hugely busy time for phone and tablet launches.

When it does arrive, the HTC One Max will be straight up against another big phablet launch in the shape of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. That has also been tipped for a September launch, with rumours of a Samsung Unpacked event just ahead of the IFA trade show. If we were to make an educated guess, HTC will probably showcase its own phablet at the IFA event proper.

What we know so far is that the One Max will offer a 6-inch, 1080p Super LCD 3 display and Qualcomm’s 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset. Also believed to be present is 2GB RAM, a choice of either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, a 3,200 mAh battery and a camera that's at the very least competitive at that end of the market and likely to be some variation of the UltraPixel camera from the original One device.

All of that in September. If you are running down a contract right now, you'll be spoilt for choice as summer turns to autumn - and that's before we get to Apple.
