Slow motion video could be an iPhone 5S selling point

We expect the new iPhone 5S to have a selection of new features to encourage us all to upgrade. But right now, details are pretty scarce. However one feature has just come to light.

It would seem that the new iPhone 5S will have slow motion video shooting. That's according to 9 to 5 Mac, which claims that code in the iOS 7 software points to a a 'Mogul' feature that can record video at 120 frames per second. But right now, it is just that - code.

It wouldn't be a surprise as the Samsung Galaxy S 4 (the phone's main competitor) offers a similar function, but it would mean a change in hardware and as such, it would be an exclusive feature to the new model. There's no way of activating it in the iPhone 5 or indeed, earlier models of the phone or iPad.

Apple is likely to offer a dual-LED flash setup and perhaps a 13-megapixel Sony-designed sensor in its new iPhone, along with other new non-camera features (a fingerprint sensor has been rumoured). We'll have to wait and see whether slow-mo is another or if the code is in preparation for the iPhone 6. Yes, work could already be underway for next year's model.
