Nokia EOS is now Nokia Lumia 1020

If all goes to plan, the new Nokia EOS will be unveiled at a New York event. Except it isn't going to be called the Nokia EOS. It will be the Nokia Lumia 1020.

No surprise to see a change of name to fit in with the Nokia Lumia branding, but we were surprised to see a leaked image of the phone pop up this morning. As is usually the case these days, that image comes from the @evleaks team, which claims the image you are seeing is a press shot of the upcoming smartphone, adding only details about the name change and that this is the US model for the AT&T network. The UK model is likely to be much the same.

It doesn't give a lot away and certainly doesn't show the bulbous camera we are expecting on its rear. However, we wouldn't be surprised if an alternative image pops up in the next seven days showing exactly that.

No details on the specification either, so we'll go with what we have, which is that 41-megapixel camera with Xenon flash, 32GB of internal storage, a 768 x 1280 OLED screen, the latest version of the Windows Phone 8 software, an FM radio, a 'flip to silence' feature and a  polycarbonate body.

The camera wll be the talking point here though, said to take a 35-megapixel photo and a 5-megapixel photo at the same time (one to save, one to share), and will use 'Nokia Pro Camera', which turns the phone into everything you would expect of a decent compact camera.

All will be revealed next week. Or perhaps sooner.
