Nokia 207 and 208 smartphones unveiled

Nokia has two new smartphone launches for us, but we're not getting too excited about the arrival of the Nokia 207 and 208.

But if you want a 3G smartphone that's easy on the bank balance, you might well be interested in the launches, which differ only by SIM - one is a single-SIM, the other a dual-SIM.

'The Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 are designed for people who like a classic phone and traditional keypad but don't want to miss out on smartphone experiences, like staying connected to social media and accessing the Internet,' said Timo Toikkanen, executive vice president, Mobile Phones, Nokia.

'As our most affordable 3G devices yet, the Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 offer a perfect balance of performance, features and quality.'

That equates to the traditional mobile phone shape (classic Nokia, if you like), with an alphanumeric keypad, Mail for Exchange for staying on top of work email and calendar appointments, 3G connectivity, the Nokia Xpress Browser with data compression for speedier browsing, social apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter, video playback via a YouTube app, a camera (it's not clear how many pixels as yet, but we're guessing a low number), Bluetooth and a strong battery life - up to 33 days of standby time.

The Nokia 207 and 208 will be available in colours including red, cyan, yellow, white and black, shipping from the third quarter of 2013 for €52 (£45).
