Motorola X finally caught on camera

Whether it goes by the name of the Motorola X or the Moto X, the much-anticipated smartphone might well be on the shelves sooner than you (or we) expected.

Previously we've seen a mock up or a very blurred image of the upcoming handset from the now Google-owned company, but overnight, a genuine image of the phone has appeared online, said to be from testing on the US Sprint network. Network testing? Sounds like we're on a countdown for a launch there.

The source behind the image claims it is the Motorola (Moto) X, although the codename for the handset right now is the Motorola XT1056. It is said to have a screen around 4.5 or 4.6 inches (rumours have pointed to 4.7 inches) and is running Android 4.2.2, with 16GB of internal storage, plus a removable battery.

So not a great deal about the inner workings sadly, but Phone Arena, which has the image, claims the phone could be launching on 1 August, which is less than a week away. So not long to wait to find out if the anticipation for the X has been worth it.
