It has been rumoured before, indeed we featured a leak about it back in May. But it now seems like the Huawei Ascend W2 has been confirmed over in China.
The sequel to the Ascend W1 (which we reviewed here) is said to be 'coming soon' according to a promotional video from China Mobile in its native country, which effectively saves the effort of an official launch. Ok, not quite.
You see, we've yet to find out the full specification of the phone, which was expected at the recent London launch event, but failed to show. Luckily, another leak does fill in many of the gaps, indicating that the W2 will be a step up from the original, offering a 4.3-inch display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2000mAh battery. So yes, a step up, but still fairly middle of the range.
That shot above is the phone in the flesh. Hopefully we'll see it on the racks in the UK before the summer is out.
