Former HTC heavyweights Michael Coombes and James Atkins have set up their own smartphone company, Kazam, with the aim of launching some unique and quality handsets by the end of 2013.
Both Coombes and Atkins left HTC earlier this year and will now concentrate on building the Kazam brand, which is based in Mayfair, London. Kazam is also planning a network of regional sales and marketing offices throughout Europe.
"We believe your smartphone is a digital reflection of who you are, and since we are all different, it’s important that we don’t adopt a one size fits all approach," said Michael Coombes, who has adopted a CEO position. "We aim to provide quality smartphones that are accessible to everyone."
“Kazam is about stunning design, robust hardware and intuitive technology, underpinned by outstanding customer service,” added James Atkins, CMO at Kazam.
So far Kazam's website is bare bones - you're presented with the company logo and a means of subscribing to its mailing list. We'll bring you more info when we have it, but we're wondering if 2013 might be a tad optimistic for the predicted launch...
