Sony Xperia ZU is caught on camera

When the original Samsung Galaxy Note launched, we all scratched our heads and wondered if the buying public really wanted a phone pushing the size of a tablet. Fast forward a year or two and I think we all now know the answer. Other mobile makers certainly do and belatedly, are rushing out their own efforts. The Xperia ZU (or Z Ultra) being one of them.

At least, that's what we're presuming. There's no confirmation as yet, but the leaks just keep coming. The latest is from the French Nowhere Else site, which is showing off a photo of the phone (the one you can see above) in all its glory. In turn, that shows of the 'Ultra' 6.44-inch screen on this phablet, the key selling point here.

But not the only selling point. If other rumours prove true, that 1080p screen will be be able to be accessed not only by a stylus, but by pretty much anything, thanks to a new touch screen sensor. The Android Jelly Bean handset will also come with a Snapdragon 800 chipset including a 2.2GHz quad-core processor and Adreno 330 graphics, an 8-megapixel Exmor RS camera sensor and a 2.2-megapixel front-facing camera. The whole thing will be water resistant too, which Sony seems particularly keen on right now.

So big, slim and waterproof. Sounds a winning combination. Sony is sending out invites for an event on 6 July featuring a device with a stylus. We can only presume it is the Xperia ZU. So expect all to be revealed on that date, including UK sales details hopefully.
