Another handset we can strike off the list for the upcoming Samsung event, with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom showing itself a week early. To be honest, it's not exactly a surprising reveal either, with the phone leaking just a few days ago in detail. But it's nice to have some official confirmation from Samsung itself. Most of the details from that leak seem to be pretty spot on, with the headliner feature here being a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor with 10x optical zoom on the back. That creates a bit of bulk for your pocket, but if photography is your thing, you might want to make allowances for it. Talking of photography, there's also optical image stabilisation, a Xenon Flash, face detection and a zoom ring that offers shortcuts to different camera modes, as well as the ability to send a snap to a person you are calling with a twist of that ring. Nice. But don't think this is just a camera with Android bolted on as an after thought. THis is very much a smartphone too, running Android 4.2 and with a a 1.5 GHz dual-core chip, 1.5GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory (which you can boost via microSD card for all those snaps you'll take), a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen and 2,330 mAh battery, which should keep you and your camera going for a good while.Sounds like the kind of kit you need to get hands-on with to appreciate. We'll be doing that soon, ahead of a UK launch later this summer. No pricing confirmed as yet.
