Acer Liquid S1 to take on Samsung's Galaxy Note

Acer has launched a mighty 5.7-inch smartphone that's set to take on Samsung's Galaxy Note 'phablet'. Hitting UK stores in Q3 with a starting price of 349 Euros, the Acer Liquid S1 aims to nail both mobile productivity as well as entertainment.

That 1280 x 720 resolution screen matches the Samsung Galaxy Note II, and it certainly seems both crisp and vibrant from our initial play. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean is on board, while a powerful 1.5GHz quad-core processor runs the show.

Despite the enormous display, the Liquid S1 was comfortable to hold and not too chunky or heavy. Photos and video look fantastic, and that spacious screen makes surfing the web a breeze. We're looking forward to giving it a full test out when we get our hands on a review sample, so check back to see if Acer can truly take on Samsung with this device.
