It has been official since January, but now you can get the Sony Xperia Tablet Z via the Vodafone network on contract. Even better, it's ready to go 4G when 4G is available from Vodafone. When that will be isn't clear, but we're working to late summer as an estimate. You'll know when it does arrive though. Expect wall-to-wall advertising in the weeks running up to the big day. Not that 4G will be free to existing customers. A snippet from Vodafone claims 'we can then talk about adding Vodafone 4G to your monthly plan' - which indicates a fee on top of your contract when 4G launches. No surprise there. As for the tablet, that hasn't changed over the months. We're still looking at a waterproof and dustproof tablet, complete with a Qualcomm 1.5GHz quad-core APQ8064 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, a 10.1-inch 1,920 x 1,200 screen, an 8.1-megapixel Exmor R camera, NFC, microSD expansion and Sony's S-Force virtual surround sound technology. Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) is the operating system. If you want it, you can get it for subsidised £200 feee on Vodafone, but you'll be looking at a monthly contract, something like a £28 deal offering 1GB of data, for example, although other options are available.
