Asus Fonepad Note officially announced

You wonder if that name will hold after the Samsung legal team has had a good look, but for now, the Asus Fonepad Note is the name of the latest smartphone from Asus.

Well, smartphone or phablet, take your pick. Once again, we're in the land of the big screen device, fasting somewhere between mobile phone and tablet.

Just launched on the stage of the Computex event in Taiwan, this is being pushed as a tablet, but does pack phone functionality, although the size of this thing, thanks to the 6-inch, 1080p Super IPS+ display, will certainly make it a wide hold if you are making or taking a call.

The Fonepad Note also comes with an Intel Atom Z2560 dual-core 1.6GHz processor, 2GB RAM, an 8-megapixel camera, 1.2-megapixel front camera, front-facing speakers and that phone functionality (without 4G connectivity).

Details are still coming through on this, not least price and availability. We suspect some time will pass before it hits the UK, probably late summer at best. But we'll confirm as soon as we know.
