BlackBerry Q5 officially launches

It was rumoured at the BlackBerry R10, but the latest BlackBerry handset has actually been named the BlackBerry Q5.

This is budget BlackBerry, the market BlackBerry has been particularly strong in over the last few years. At least, we presume it is. Even though the handset has been officially unveiled, detailed are still a bit sketchy.

But what we do know is that the phone will geared to the emerging and budget markets, have a 3.1-inch touchscreen, a full QWERTY keyboard and four colour options - black, red, white and pink. The operating system is, as you would expect, BlackBerry 10. What we lack is the detail from 'under the bonnet'. We suspect it's nothing to write home about or BlackBerry would be shouting it from the rooftops, although a previous leak pointed at the phone offering a 5-megapixel rear camera, 2GB RAM and 8GB internal storage.

You'll find out soon enough though. The new BlackBerry Q5 smartphone will be available in selected markets in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia  and Latin America, with expected availability beginning in July. So a matter of weeks really.
