41-megapixel Nokia EOS could launch next week

You might want to take this with a pinch of salt, but according to new reports, the Nokia EOS is the phone making its debut at the Nokia event next week.

As we mentioned recently, Nokia is hosting an event described as 'The Nokia Lumia Story Continues', which is likely to showcase something high end for the Lumia range. That was widely believed to be the Nokia Lumia 925, a thinner and lighter version of the Lumia 920, using an aluminium body rather than the usual polycarbonate chassis.

But now we're hearing other things. Specifically, about the Nokia EOS (although that's unlikely to be the final name). According to Digitimes, Nokia is 'expected to unveil a new high-end Windows Phone 8-based Lumia phone, which is likely to come with a 41-mega pixel camera'. So says the particularly vague 'market watchers', which is why we're not entirely convinced by the rumour.

A camera like that isn't something alien to Nokia. Remember the Nokia 808 PureView (pictured above)? It boasted a similar snapper, but on a Symbian smartphone. The idea of such a camera on a Windows phone is altogether more appealing and will certainly be a decent selling point for the Lumia platform.

But is it true? We'll have to wait until next week to find out.
