Google Now hits iPhone and iPad

We updated the Google Search app on our Apple devices last night and were pleasantly surprised to see Google Now appear as part of it. Now that's what you call an update!

It's a slightly different approach to Google Now for iOS devices in comparison to Android, less accessible if you like. But it has similar features, so well worth clicking on that particular icon regularly if you are out and about. Just make sure you have location services on for the app if you want to use it.

Sign into your Google account and if you do have the location services working, the app will pull out relevant location information via 'cards', which you swipe to access and remove. How much detail perhaps depends on where you are in the world, but you should get weather and travel information, as well as traffic details, with information on local places to eat and drink perhaps more dependent on where you are. You'll get more out of it in a city than a small town, that's for sure.

Give it a whirl if you have an Apple device. The Search app that holds it is still free for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
