Cheaper than expected price of £249.99
Hopefully you saw our hands-on with the Sony Xperia XP back in March, when we put the mid-range phone through its paces. If the end result pleased you, then you'll be pleased to know that it is now available to buy in the UK.
Even better, the phone is cheaper than we first heard. Back at the launch event, we heard £322 for a late-April launch. Sony has stuck to that date, but the price is actually a bargain-tastic £249.99 on a pay-as-you-go deal with Orange or T-Mobile. If you opt for T-Mobile, you'll get it a bit cheaper too, as there's no requirement for a mandatory £10 top-up.
But as far as we can see, none of the features have been scaled back accordingly. So we are still talking a 4.6-inch, 720p display, a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, an 8-megapixel camera and 4G LTE. So mid-range by the fact that it doesn't currently top the Sony range (that honour goes to the Xperia Z), but still a very strong contender.
If you want a contract deal, O2, Three and EE will be offering those, although right now, they just have the details listed as 'coming soon'. If you prefer a contract, get in touch with your preferred network. The PAYG option should be available to pick up in the first week of May.
