LG Optimus F5 confirmed for Europe

Back in February, we first saw the LG Optimus F5, which launched at the MWC event alongside the similar F7 smartphone. A European launch was promised for the second quarter of 2013, which now looks to be the case.

The LG Optimus F5 hits Europe from today, but don't go rushing down to your phone shop demanding one just yet. The initial rollout of the phone is France-only, so unless you happen to be having a jaunt over the Channel, you'll have to wait.

For how long, we don't know. LG is promising it would also land in other (as yet unspecified) parts of Europe too, so that could be the UK. However, there's a problem/selling point that might well delay that.

The big selling point of the Optimus F5 is its LTE compatibility. So unless EE opts to add it to its current range, the Optimus F5 might have to wait until the other major players enter the fray. LG has talked about hitting the UK in a big way in 2013, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see it nestle into one of the 4G ranges this summer.

When it does launch, you'll find a 4.3-inch IPS display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 8GB of memory, 1GB RAM and a 5 megapixel camera, throwing in a 2,150mAh battery too, as well as the previously-mentioned 4G.

No news on pricing either, but it's likely to be one of the more affordable 4G offerings if/when it does arrive.
