Details of new Samsung tablet, S4 Active and S4 Mini emerge

With the Samsung Galaxy S4 on the shelves (or at least, some shelves due to stock shortages), the Korean giant is now turning its attention to its next generation of releases.

According to the Wall Street Journal, three new devices are on the horizon, specifically a tablet, a mini version of the S4 and a rugged version of that flagship phone. Of course, we have heard confirmation of the latter from Samsung itself, but it's nice to hear a second opinion.

In fact, the WSJ even has a name for that phone - said to be the Galaxy S4 Active - said to be launching in July with waterproofing and dustproofing, but keeping many of the main features of the original. Sounds like a winner.

On top of that, Samsung will send out a smaller version of the S4 with 4.3-inch screen, likely to be pitched as the Galaxy S4 Mini. perhaps around the same time, with a new 8-inch Galaxy tablet also in the pipeline - pipping both if the phones with a June launch. Details of that are scarce, but there's only so far you can go with an 8-inch tablet. Tab branding is almost certain for this.

More to follow, but if you are planning on upgrading to something small, rugged or tablet-shaped, make a mental note.
