Acer Liquid E2 smartphone launches

A quad-core phone for £200? Already the Acer Liquid E2 is tempting us in.

Of course, we'll wait until a hands-on before a final judgement, but the fact that a quad-core phone can come in at this price sums up how fast the mobile market is moving right now.

This particular quad-core is set to hit the UK in the middle of May, packing a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, an 8-megapixel camera able to record 1080p at 30 frames per second, along with a 2-megapixel front camera and Android Jelly Bean for the operating system, along with a 4.5-inch screen at 960x540 pixel resolution.

On the downside (which might include that screen resolution), there is just 4GB of storage, so you will need the microSD slot that's inevitably included.

The official price is €229 for Europe, which works out at around that £200 mark. No official price for the UK, but we can't see it straying too far from that mark SIM-free.
