First Firefox phones available to buy

Fancy dipping a toe into the Firefox OS waters? You can do that right now by picking up one of the first dedicated Firefox OS handsets.

We mentioned the phones in January, those being the Keon and Peak, both manufactured by Geeksphone, which is selling the phones directly and SIM-free.

The Keon model has a 1Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor, a 3.5-inch HVGA Multitouch screen, 3-megapixel camera, 4GB of storage, 512MB RAM and all the usual connectivity you would expect. The more upmarket Peak handset features a 1.2Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip, 4.3-inch qHD IPS Multitouch screen, an 8-megapixel camera, 2-megapixel networking camera, 512MB RAM and 4GB of storage.

Of course, usability will be limited for the average man or woman in the street, but the hardware will be invaluable to developers looking to get in early on a new platform.

If that's you, then you'll be pleased to know that the Keon will cost €91 plus taxes, while the Peak will cost €149, with shipping to anywhere in the world. Head to Geeksphone to get your order in.
