Facebook Home could be heading to the iPhone

When Facebook Home launched, the one we felt certain of was that it would not be appearing on the iPhone anytime soon. Seems we might have been wrong.

According to Bloomberg, Facebook is talking to Apple about 'crafting a version' of its new mobile software for the iPhone. So not a direct port, but a take on the Android software that's more in keeping with Apple's mobile platform.

The talks are said to be 'ongoing' and nothing has been finalised, according to Adam Mosseri, director of product at Facebook. He said: 'We've shown them what we’ve built and we’re just in an ongoing conversation.'

Mr Mosseri added: 'It may or may not be Home. We could also just bring some of the design values to the iOS app. That might be how it ends up. Or we could build just the lock screen. Maybe then it's not called Home, it's called something else.'

Any final decision could end up being down to revenue. While Facebook Home does not initially have advertising, Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg said promotions will be included in future updates.

'There are no ads on this yet,' Zuckerberg said. 'I’m sure at some point there will be.' When there are, Facebook might have something very strong to bargain with.
