Colours could be selling point of iPhone 5S

It might not be a radical redesign, but the new iPhone will have one thing on its side - colour.

According to Japanese website Macotakara, the iPhone 5S will come in three colours on top of the usual black and white. If that sounds familiar, it's because the iPod touch went down a similar road last year, as you can see above. Whether those colours are the same as the touch isn't clear, but with the handset likely to be a general bump in specification, plus fingerprint sensor (and iOS upgrade), colour will be key to Apple pitching its new phone.

That now seems likely to be over summer, with the same publication claiming an announcement will be made in July, followed by sales in August.

Talking of July, that's also the mont that will see the fifth-generation iPad go into production, said to be thinner and lighter than previous efforts, with a slim bezel design, similar to the iPad mini.

It sounds like that's going to be launched just ahead of the festive sales season, but there's no date available as yet.
