Korean press hints at Samsung Note III details

The big Samsung story right now is the upcoming Galaxy S IV launch, which should be revealed later this week. But the Korean press is already hinting at the next big launch from the company - the Samsung Galaxy Note III.

Specifically, we're talking about the Korea Times, which has reported a handset with 5.9-inch OLED screen coming from Samsung in the 'latter half of the year', with the intention to 'solidify its leading position' in the phablet market. The publication's anonymous source also adds that the phone will be powered by the in-house Exynos octa-core chipset, as previously reported.

But here's the thing. The report doesn't say this is the Galaxy Note III and the screen size contradicts a previous report by the Korea Times, which claimed, just a few weeks ago, that the new Note would come with a 6.3-inch screen.

So is this a new phone or has the Korea Times jus got a better source of information regarding the Note III? We suspect the latter, as it's unlikely that Samsung would want to deliver two similar devices in a very short space of time. But we should get something more concrete once we get nearer to the launch date.
