Three ultra-tough phones to barge their way into 2009
Sonim, the creator of the 'toughphone', has teamed up with another ruggedised brand to release a host of durable handsets.
Sonim and Land Rover will launch the Land Rover S1 and Land Rover S2 G4 by mid-2009, with a third device (as of yet unamed) arriving later in the year.
So far there are no pictures of the handsets, but we are told all three will be completely submersible and Bluetooth-compliant. They will be certified to withstand salt, fog, humidity, transport and thermal shock, as well as a 1.6-metre drop onto concrete from any angle. The handsets promise a degree of style as well as brawn with recognised designer Scott Wilson said to be involved in development.
All three devices will be packaged in durable, water-resistant, ruggedised, protective casing.
It has been a busy last week for Sonim after also announcing the launch of the Sonim XP3 toughphone. We will have the review of the XP3 online in time for Christmas.
