LG unveils Optimus F5 and Optimus F7 smartphones

Another pre-MWC launch, this time from LG with the Optimus F5 and Optimus F7. The selling point? 4G connectivity.

That used to be a turn-off for for us Brits, but with the auction now done and dusted and EE's service already in operation, 4G is very much where it's at. Or in other words, these phones might now be candidates for a UK launch.

The Optimus F5 is the first of the 4G phones, with a 4.3-inch IPS display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 8GB of memory, 1GB RAM and a 5 megapixel camera, throwing in a 2,150mAh battery too.

If you want to take a step up from that, the F7 comes with a 4.7-inch True HD IPS display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB RAM, 8GB of storage and an 8-megapixel camera.

Both will run Android Jelly Bean (4.1.2) out of the box, as well as QSlide, which allows you to open two apps at the same time, both in full screen mode, as well as Live Zooming, previously only seen in the Optimus G.

The second quarter of 2013 is the loose launch date, which could mean either or both in the mix when the next generation of 4G phones are announced for the UK.
