Samsung Galaxy S IV could launch in March

We had already heard that the Samsung Galaxy S IV would not be launching at the upcoming MWC event in Barcelona, so the big question was just when would it launch? One industry insider is claiming he has the date, not to mention the location.

Eldar Murtazin, founder of Mobile-review and a man who tends to get it right more often than wrong, claims 14 March is the big launch date. He didn't actually say the Galaxy S IV, but his cryptic Tweet of a 'big announcement' is widely being read as the launch date for Samsung's next flagship smartphone.

That's about two weeks after MWC, giving Samsung plenty of space from any launches at that event. After all, no one wants to be overshadowed. Saying that, Murtazin's Tweet does hint at the S IV taking the wind out of HTC's sails. The S IV will appear not long after HTC's flagship, the HTC One, gets its official launch at MWC and around the time it will be pitching for retail sales.

New York is said to be the location officially, although Samsung might well run events in different territories, including a London event. After all, this is the big one for Samsung.

If previous rumours are to be believed, the Galaxy S IV is rumoured to feature an Exynos 5 Octa (8-Core) processor, Mali-T678 (8-Core) graphics, a 4.99-inch SuperAMOLED Full HD Resolution Display, 2GB RAM, 13-megapixel rear facing camera capable of shooting 1080p Full HD video at 30FPS, 2-megapixel front facing camera capable of shooting 720p HD Videos and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for the OS.

Expect official confirmation of the event (if, of course, this is true), in the coming weeks.
