Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 accidentally revealed

Samsung wanted to show the world a limited edition red Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 for Valentine's Day. But in the end, it showed off something far more interesting - the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0.

At least, that's the wide presumption of just what the above image shows. No idea why there's a man in a chef's hat in the shot, but also, we have no idea why Samsung would show off new kit as a backdrop before it is launched. Either this is subtle marketing to get us talking or someone is in for a tough morning at Samsung HQ today.

The shot was caught by the SamMobile site, which adds that this is definitely not the Galaxy Note 10.1 and that the design matches with the leaked images of the Galaxy Note 8.0, like the one here. Also, there are on-screen back and home buttons that are found on the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, but not the Galaxy Note II smartphone.

Obviously no fresh details were offered, but we already have a bunch of those. There is no phone functionality, but there is an 8-inch 1280 x 800 screen, 16GB of storage (plus a microSD slot to expand further), a 1.6GHz quad core processor, 2GB RAM, a 5-megapixel camera, a 1.3-megapixel front networking camera and Samsung's S-Pen.

Not long to wait before a hands-on, as Samsung has confirmed that it will be shown off at the MWC event at the end of February.
