Nokia tablet briefly appears at trade event

In March of last year, we heard a rumour that Nokia was planning a 10-inch tablet running the Windows 8 platform. After that, nothing. Until today, that is.

The original rumour pointed to components being bought ahead of a launch in autumn of last year, with around 200,000 units making up the first batch of orders. Obviously, that never happened. No word, no spy shots, nothing. But now, we think we have an image, which could point to a launch being fairly imminent.

A launch event in Pakistan for the Lumia 620 smartphone had a rather interesting backdrop. Between a 620 phone and a TV screen running Windows was a tablet, looking not unlike a Lumia smartphone, just bigger and running the Windows 8 live tiles.

Is it real or is it an artist's impression? Seems odd for Nokia to be showing off a tablet when it has no intention of making one, which leads us to think it is the real deal.

Our minds are also wandering towards the upcoming MWC event. The launch of a Lumia tablet? It could happen. If it does, the tablet will be long overdue - and we'll be on hand to give it the once over.
