HTC is leading us a merry dance with the much-rumoured M7 smartphone. In fact, that very name looks to be something of a red herring too. That's according to well-known (and often correct) leak specialists @evleaks, who simply posted: 'HTC M7 coming to market as simply the HTC One'.Seems an odd one. Previous leaks, both inventory and from the HTC camp itself, have pointed to M7 being the name for the finished smartphone. HTC CEO Peter Chou dropped both names at an HTC party recently (from which the above picture is taken), so the jury is still out. But HTC One makes more sense.M7 seems a little random, whereas HTC One does follow a naming precedent that HTC has been using for some time. Last year, it launched a flagship phone called the HTC One X. Going for HTC One simplifies this more and makes it clear that the phone is clearly at the top of the tree.We should find out for sure at the HTC event on 19 February, which is almost certain to showcase the phone. When it does launch, rumours point to a handset with a 4.7-inch 'SoLux' screen, a 1.7GHz Qualcomm quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB of storage, Android Jelly Bean, the Sense 5 interface and a 13-megapixel camera.Expect at least three more leaks before that launch date and possibly another name change.
