Samsung Galaxy S IV could launch in March

We heard a whisper that the Samsung Galaxy S IV could launch in the first quarter of 2013, which had us thinking MWC. But with Samsung denying any major events at that particular trade show, it sounded more like a standalone event soon after. Something that looks to be the case now.

The latest information comes via a 'trusted insider', speaking to the SamMobile site. He or she claims that Samsung will host an 'unpacked' event on 15 March, just a couple of weeks after the MWC trade show, with the Galaxy S IV being the star of the show. If that's right, press invites should land from February.

After that big launch, Samsung plans to deliver its flagship phone to retail from the second week of April. But it will be a slightly staggered retail launch. Eastern Europe will get it first, with the rest of Europe and Asia expected to receive the Galaxy S IV before the end of April. America, Australia and Africa will receive the Galaxy S IV around May/June.

When it does arrive, it is rumoured to feature an Exynos 5 Octa (8-Core) CPU, a 4.99-inch Super AMOLED full HD display, 2GB RAM, a 13-megapixel camera capable of shooting 1080p HD videos, a 2-megapixel front facing camera and Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean.

If all of that turns out to be fact, there really isn't long to wait before we see Samsung's next big hitter. Better get saving.
