An equivalent app has been on the iOS platform longer than we can remember, but now Android owners can take in 4OD too. Or at least, the catch-up service for the trio of '4' channels. It's not perfect though. For a start, you can't watch channels live, which is definitely a negative in our book. Also, you'll need to be on a Wi-Fi connection to use the app. Again, that's not ideal if you are stuck outside a hot spot and fancy catching some Inbetweeners or IT Crowd action to lighten your day. But this is a first-generation app, so improvements should follow. What you do get is a wide selection of programmes from Channel 4, E4 and More4, all available free of charge, as long as you don't mind sitting through a couple of advertisements first. You can browse for classic and current programmes by date of broadcast, category type, A to Z list or via editorially curated collections. Catch-up is also a key thing here, with 30 days worth of the network's output available to watch when you have the time. All of that is available to download now. It's free, of course.
