Samsung Galaxy Note 8 confirmed

Earlier in the week, Samsung Mobile president J.K. Shin confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 would make its debut at the MWC event in February. Not long after, the first details broke. Or at least, alleged details of the mini tablet.

The SamMobile site has acquired an image via Twitter, said to be of the new device, which hovers somewhere between Samsung's tablet range and its supersized Note smartphone selection. One look at the image tells you that, without being clear as to whether it is one or the other. But the rumoured specification makes it clear that this is a tablet.

No phone functionality here, but you do get an 8-inch 1280 x 800 screen, 16GB of storage (plus a microSD slot to expand further), a 1.6GHz quad core processor, 2GB RAM, a 5-megapixel camera, a 1.3-megapixel front networking camera and Samsung's S-Pen.

The big reveal is in just a month, so not long to wait until we get confirmation. It'll be interesting to hear a price too. It's a mini tablet, but one that looks premium. If Samsung gets the pricing wrong, it could risk falling into the no man's land between the budget devices and the larger premium tabs.
