LG Optimus G Pro gets an official launch

After the success of the Nexus 4, you would imagine LG has more of a spring in its step as we enter 2013. The LG Optimus G Pro is likely to give it even more of a swagger.

Just launched in Japan, the LG Optimus G Pro looks to be the company's latest flagship offering, with a set of features up there with the best. It isn't groundbreaking, but on the face of it, the Optimus G Pro looks like it can compete with what's on the shelves right now. Whether that's the case after the MWC event in February is another thing.

Anyway, let's focus on the new phone, which hopes to tempt you with a 5-inch 1080p LCD screen, a 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro chip, a weightier (for LG) 3,000mAh battery and Android Jelly Bean for the operating system. There's also 2GB RAM, a 13-megapixel camera, 32GB of built-in storage, a microSDXC slot and LTE connectivity.

A launch in Japan came with confirmation that the phone will land there in early April. LG has yet to confirm availability for any other territory, but we would suspect early summer is a good bet for a UK showing.
