Sky Go Extra likely to launch this week

Sky Go - if you have Sky and a compatible mobile device, chances are you use this rather cool feature and app already. But would you pay a premium to use it offline? That's what Sky is likely to be proposing with Sky Go Extra.

For £5 per month, Sky will allow up to four users to download on-demand movies and TV, including exclusive content such as the entire James Bond catalogue. Each download will be available for a month, with users able to download as much as a device can hold. For mobile devices with larger capacities, that could mean up to 80 films or 400 TV programmes. Perfect for any flight and/or summer holiday.

The option of downloading with Sky is likely to appeal to Wi-Fi tablet owners, who can't necessarily jump on a data connection as easily when out and about. Just download a movie and you can watch it whenever you have downtime, data connection or not. It might also be a tempting alternative to Netflix and Lovefilm, even if the offering is different to those providers.

Official announcement to follow, but expect this to be up and running in no time at all.
