Huawei Ascend P2 specification leaks

The original Huawei Ascend P1 (pictured here) got a strong review from us last year. It might not have had the looks, but it certainly packed a punch. The follow-up could do the same - and then some.

Some new models were launched at CES, including the Huawei Ascend Mate and the Huawei Ascend D2, but the flagship phone wasn't in the line-up, leading to speculation that the phone was held back until the next big event - MWC in February.

Indeed, a specification has now leaked, which points to a launch in the fairly near future. That spec, first published on a Chinese news site, claims the Ascend P2 will offer a 5-inch IPS display with 1280 x 720 resolution, a quad-core 1.8GHz Hisilicon K3V2 processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 2GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera and a 13 megapixel rear-facing camera.

So it will be quite a phone when it does arrive and, being a Huawei, it's likely to be a bit cheaper than similar phones with a more prominent brand name. Look out for it next month, which is already shaping up to be quite a busy one for new launches.
