First we had the launch, now we want to know when we can get our hands on the Sony Xperia Z. The answer is perhaps sooner than you think. But the exact launch date depends on which retailer you listen to. Both Phones 4u and Carphone Warehouse have announced that they will be taking pre-orders for Sony's latest flagship Android smartphone, with networks also showing their hand. So far, Vodafone, Three and O2 have confirmed sales of the phone. We wouldn't be surprised to see T-Mobile and Orange join the throng, as there's no exclusives here – aside from the purple version being exclusive to O2.As for the date, the networks aren't giving much away, outside of the first quarter of 2013 – but Phones 4u is talking about 1 March, if you are running down a contract. However, Carphone Warehouse provisionally has early February down for the shelf date. That could mean it has stock earlier or it could be wishful thinking. Take your pick.No pricing has been confirmed as yet, unless you want one SIM-free. If you do, Clove will take your order for £440 plus VAT, which might be the way to go if you just want to stick in a cheap SIM card. Although you might also want to do the maths when the contract prices are finally confirmed before you commit. If you want to know anything else about the phone, check out our detailed hands-on with the Sony Xperia Z and some close-up snaps of the phone Sony hopes will get it back in the game.
