Every year (and usually at CES), some company launches the world's thinnest smartphone. This year it happens to be Alcatel's turn, specifically with the Alcatel Idol Ultra.Nice name and on the face of it, nice phone too, especially if it comes in at the right price. As it's an Alcatel phone, I think we can safely say that will be the case. How thin you ask? Just 6.45mm thick or thin, but still with room for a decent set of features. Not premium you understand, but certainly mid-range on the face of it. So inside that ridiculously thin casing you'll find an eight-megapixel camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, a 1.2GHz dual core processor, 1GB RAM, a 4.7-inch HD OLED screen and Android Jelly Bean. Alcatel is big on showing off the phone, but more coy about launch details and that potential price. As we said, we suspect this phone will be cheaper than you might think and Alcatel has said it will appear at some point in 2013, kicking off with sales in China. But it should hit the UK eventually. When we hear for sure, we'll pass on that all-important information to you.
