Samsung Galaxy Note to get Jelly Bean update

Good news if you invested in the original phablet, aka the Samsung Galaxy Note, back in 2011. Your phone could soon be getting an Android upgrade. Not bad when you consider that a Galaxy Note III could be just months away.

The original supersized smartphone is getting Android Jelly Bean. We're not sure when, but 'soon' seems to be the timescale being talked about. The downside? Right now, that update is scheduled for unlocked phones only. We're not sure why, but there really is no reason why the networks can't follow suit and offer it further down the line.

When Android 4.1 does roll out to your phone, it will come with some nice little extras, the Premium Suite. If that sounds familiar, it could be because the software recently rolled out to the flagship Galaxy S III, headed up by multi-windows support, allowing you to run two apps on a screen at the same time. Ideal for a device like the Note. You'll also get the popup window multi-tasking feature for Notes, Video and Browser, while handwriting will also be enabled within the email app.

When Samsung confirms the date of the rollout, we'll let you know. Likewise, if we find out about the networks offering this, we'll also pass it on.
